ABOUT CASA ROCHA
Casa Rocha is a community centre founded in 2008 in the neighbourhood ‘Santo André’ in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In the beginning, the founders were visiting kids and their families with a small team in one of the oldest slums in the city called ‘Pedreira Prado Lopes’. A year after, God blessed them with the opportunity to buy a house we call the Rock House. We now welcome children, teenagers, men and women and their families to do different activities aiming for a holistic development of the people living in the slum and surrounding neighbourhood.
We work with kids and teenagers from 6 to 17, who participate in groups according to their age and their school times (in Brazil kids study only half day). In these groups, they learn more about God, participate in different activities that stimulate their creativity, play games, swim and do sports.
We are involved in different areas in the life of the children and teenagers. We have contact with their teachers, their schools and we visit their families regularly with the goal to focus on the whole family to have a bigger impact.
The Rock House community centre is part of JOCUM (YWAM – Youth With A Mission) Belo Horizonte, a team of around 50 missionaries coming from different nations and cultures, serving together in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil since 1986. We are part of YWAM International, a christian interdenominational missionary organisation, operating in more than 170 countries around the world.
